Waistcoat is a medium shawl collar, with the front being made from a super fine, brocade silk, with deep red floral figures. Rear is made from a mid-weight glazed cotton in a dark brown color. Interior is made from a glazed cream cotton. Hand sewn utilizing brown, black, and natural cotton thread with silk thread on the button holes. Cut glass buttons with brass shanks.

Waistcoat was found with a small note in pocket which reads:
Vest bought in Washington City on August 31st 1852. Price paid $3.25. A. R. Witener
Owner stamp on interior of waistcoat.
